The idea behind the directory is to list places where children can connect with nature.  Campings, cottages or guesthouses must be located in settings with a good degree of wilderness, where immediate interaction with nature happens as you step out of your tent or room.

• Lowveld National Botanical Garden, Nelspruit (Mpumalanga)
  Rugged, rocky river scenery is the perfect, spectacular setting for Nelspruit's main tourist attraction, the Lowveld National Botanical Garden, situated in the heart and at the hub of Mpumalanga. The 159 ha garden straddles the Crocodile and Nels Rivers.
  


• National Botanical Garden, Bloemfontein (Free State)
  spans a valley between picturesque dolerite koppies with the natural vegetation comprising tall grassland and woodland, dominated by magnificent wild olive and karee trees.
  


• Pietermaritzburg National Botanical Garden, Pietermaritzburg (KwaZulu Natal)
  The focus of the Garden is to collect, display and promote the conservation of plants of the eastern grasslands, in particular the genera Kniphofia, Watsonia and Dierama.
