Uses
- As a snack

Benefits
- Almonds are a great source of vitamin B2 (riboflavin) and E, manganese, magnesium, iron, zinc, phosphorus and selenium;
- Cholesterol regulation through regular intake of almonds: they contain mono-unsaturated fat which is believed to lower LDL and increase HDL;
- Believed to reduce the risk of diabetes and heart disease;
- Believed to prevent gallstones;
- Boosting of energy levels;
- Soothing of skin rashes and irritations (almond oil acts as an emollient and moisturiser).
Did you know?
- The almond is not a nut, but a drupe (a fruit with a pit inside). Its outer covering is a hard shell. This seed is what we eat.
- The almond tree (Prunus dulcis) originates in the Mediterranean region of the Middle East.
