Do you also need time-out?

Updated: Jul 17, 2020

I don't know about you, but I definitely do! And not just any time-out. No, no. I want to temporarily remove myself from the rest of the world and indulge in pure, unadulterated 'me time'. That's right. Me-time. So, this is what I have in mind...

Firstly, I don't want to have to think about anything. Secondly, I don't want to have to do anything. Lastly, I want total freedom and flexibility to do whatever and whenever I want to, should I want to.

Come to think of it, spending time in a sublime location would actually be a lot more fun if you can share it with friends or your loved-ones, assuming that there is ample space for anyone to do their own thing too. In fact, I know just the perfect place to do so. It's a hidden gem in a private concession of one of the lesser visited game reserves in South Africa. Ultra luxurious, exquisite in decor, finesse in culinary delights with a superb wine cellar, outstanding hospitality and service, and of course, a fabulous location in the wilderness. A treasure second-to-none.

So here goes. We take a short private flight to this extraordinary destination in the wilderness and as we are about to land a pride of lions reluctantly removes itself from the landing strip. Our private ranger awaits us in a 4x4 which is reserved for our exclusive use. In fact, pretty much everything and everyone is for the duration of our stay, ranging from our ranger and tracker to our butler, executive chef, and host at our private villa in the bush.

When we arrive at our villa I am very pleasantly surprised to discover plenty of fabulous little nooks to hide off alone. Yet, we are also spoilt for choice when it comes to shared spaces, decks, and balconies under the trees where we can gather for wonderful al fresco meals, relax at the infinity pool, and enjoy our sundowners in good company while our executive chef cooks up a storm in our kitchen.

And, even though our en-suite bedrooms are ultra spacious and decadently comfortable, I can't resist spending a night alone on a viewing deck to immerse myself completely in untouched wilderness, away from the worries of the world. I love it!

I spend my days listening to the sounds of the bush in my private elevated sala or just lying in bed with the doors wide open. Every now and then, I join the others on a 4x4 safari with our guide to explore the reserve and track the animals, but also venture out in the early hours of the morning, just me and our guide, to track the wild dogs. You see, this is the beauty of having exclusivity at your fingertips: having your private vehicle and team allows for 100% freedom to organise your stay exactly the way you want it. At night, I bathe under a million stars and every single night when I go to sleep I pat myself on the back, telling myself how right I am to take time-out in a way that works for me.

If my version of time-out resonates with you, send me an email to book this fabulous escape into the wilderness.
